“How To Succeed On The Professional Comedy Circuit” – Course Run By Andy Stedman
Monday 10 June, 7.30pm – 9.45pm @ Coach House, 7 Oxendon Street, Piccadilly, London, SW1Y 4EE
Ticket – £40

With hundreds of comedians competing for spots on professional comedy line-ups it can be a minefield trying to get yourself seen or progress up the comedy ladder. This evening course is designed to help you through the numerous pitfalls and give yourself the best chance of being booked (and re-booked!) by comedy clubs. This course is aimed at acts hoping to break into the pro-circuit and acts who are already on the pro circuit and wanting to progress upwards!

You will come out of the course with…

– An effective email to send to clubs and bookers
– A better understanding of what clubs/bookers look for
– Honest expert hints and tips from one of the top comedy promoters in the UK
– A chance to ask any questions you have in a Q&A section
– Opportunity to network and get your name/face known
– A better idea of how to move your career forward in this highly competitive industry

The course will be led by Andy Stedman – professional comedian, owner of The Stand-Up Club, founder (and funder!) of the £10,001 British Comedian of the Year competition. Andy books and promotes over 350 professional shows a year and receives thousands of applications for spots at these shows so he has seen a lot of application emails, videos and comedy sets.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR PREVIOUS COURSE

Andy Stedman’s course is so useful to anyone doing stand-up, especially if you’re breaking into paid work. It’s the kind of thing you kept wishing existed to answer questions about bookings applications, progression and promoters. He’s a real font of comedy knowledge and makes everything clear and really easy to understand. The follow up notes you get are a great reference point, so don’t worry if like me you find taking notes hard. I really recommend it – Sallyann Fellowes

“Thank you for the course. I want you to know it was so helpful. I took your advice re. gigs out and about from London. So I am doing some longer set gigs which are going well. I think I had got myself thinking I had to wait! Now find I have some lovely bookings coming in in London and beyond. Thanks again.” – Mags McHugh

This course really made clear how to make the jump from open mics to the pro circuit.   As a newer act, I felt really unsure of how to progress onto pro gigs, but left the course with a clear set of instructions for how to do this, that feels very achievable.  A few weeks after the course, I am already seeing the benefits of putting what I learned into practice, and have been offered spots at several pro clubs. ” – Hannah Lloyd-Davies

“I attended a fantastic course on booking pro gigs from The Stand-Up Club. Andy was really knowledgeable and shared a lot of great information. It’s changed the way I apply for gigs. The content was delivered in a friendly, relaxed way so it just felt like a fun evening chatting about comedy! Highly recommended.” – Ben Ashurst
I found this course very interesting and helpful. Andy has a long history of booking pro gigs, and shared some great advice on who to contact (and how and when), which kinds of gigs to apply for, how to behave at gigs, social media, and much more. Andy encouraged questions and discussion during the course, which made it feel very inclusive and personalised, and created a warm and friendly environment in addition to the excellent content.” – Simon Harriyot

I really enjoyed the course yesterday. It is clear and concise.”  – Cedric Aubert

“Thanks so much for the stand-up course earlier this month, it was really helpful and a nice laid-back environment” – Luke Richards
